World-renowned Photographer Jeremy Cowart: “Greatness should serve a greater purpose”.

March 1st, 2016 Posted in Artist Spotlight
Jeremy Cowart is a popular photographer who has shot celebrities everywhere from Taylor Swift to Sting. He is perhaps most notable, though, for the ways he harnesses his work in photography to give back. Because—as Jeremy says, “greatness should serve a greater purpose”—he’s done projects to give free portraits to people in low-income situations, photographed Rwandan genocide survivors standing side-by-side with their family members’ killers (whom they’ve now forgiven) and more. But, as Jeremy describes in this truly inspiring video (seriously, grab some tissues), he didn’t always believe he was capable of achieving these things—or anything at all. His early ideas of himself were surrounded by one idea: I can’t. But, his parents met this idea with Phillipians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

‘I can’t do this.’ For many years, this was my reality. But it was a lie. A simple truth changed everything for me. It can for you, too.

I can’t do this. I’m not good enough. I’ll never be a success. These lies keep us from living, working and dreaming. It doesn’t have to be this way…That idea that my parents instilled in me not only helped me overcome my challenges and insecurities, it blew off my limitations and opened up the world to me.”
